I know it’s been a looong time since I’ve posted, but don’t get your hopes up just yet. I still haven’t downloaded pictures from the last couple of months (it is on my “to do list” but the priority is low) but I need some advice.
Kyle is 8 1/2 months old now and I am ready to wean him. The problem is he won’t have anything to do with a bottle. This kid is super stubborn and is so good at keeping his jaw shut. Any suggestions on how to get a bottle hater to be a bottle lover?
***I know that it is recommended to nurse for a year, but I mentally can’t do it anymore, so no comments of that nature please.***

Ashlynn hated the regular bottles because the nipples were a harder plastic, so I used the playtex bottles with the drop ins. The nipples were a little wider and softer, more life like I guess you could say. Also I read that you shouldn't be the one to try to get him to use the bottle at first because he expects you to nurse him. Good luck! I only pumped for 9 months, I couldn't stand it anymore. Who cares if it isn't the full year, it is better than nothing!
oscar pretty much stopped nursing at 9 months and he wouldn't take a bottle before that so i guess if they are hungry enough they will take it. not the best advice though. sorry. he liked the milk quite warm though. warmer than i would have thought. maybe that will help..
Give him a sippy cup. None of my kids ever had bottles because I gave them sippy cups starting at 4 months. But he may like it better than a bottle. Good luck! Good to see a post. :)
You just described ethan at that age.He hated bottles! At 4 months when bob was in the hospital and i had to leave him all day, he would only drink enough to stop the hunger pains, he just waited to nurse till I got home.
We just went straight to sippy cups with the soft spouts, and he liked the milk warm.
Good Luck!!
I started all my kids on a sippy with handles around 9 months. It worked great. Maybe even pump and put the milk in a sippy for a week just to get him to try it.
Dylan was horrible with bottles/nursing just eating in general! Drove me bonkers! I found a sippy cup that had a soft flexible straw that could be opened and closed with a lid and that finally did the trick!
Have you tried different kinds of nipples? Lexie likes the Nuk ones that are the same shape as her pacifier. I have heard that breastfed babies will take formula better if you add some sugar to it. Breast milk is a lot sweeter tasting than formula I guess. He'll eat if he gets hungry enough. It's not very fun though. Sorry Nancy!
